Floréal

Finally, it's SPRING!  After months of subzero temperatures, I'm so ready to get out of my heavy winter coats and do some hiking, biking, swimming, and sailing! I've been very busy with school and other events for the past month, but I don't actually have much to report for my blog. Instead, I thought I'd make a quick spring-inspired music post - hopefully it can brighten up your week :)

Yesterday, French Films released their second full-length album, White Orchid. Here's my favourite track (so far) from the album.

This catchy 2011 song from François & the Atlas Mountains always reminds of spring, and gets me in such a good mood.

In another two weeks, Phoenix will be releasing their fourth studio album, entitled Bankrupt. Here's the first single from the album.

Spring has also inspired me to start working on Les deux pianos by Yann Tiersen again. I had most of it learnt last autumn before I broke my hand, but now I'm determined to learn it once again. This time, I'm hoping that I can convince my mom to learn the harmony that comes in at 0:25, to complete the duet!

Found any good songs lately? Please let me know! I always love suggestions :)
I hope everyone's having a fabulous week, and just remember - only two and a half more weeks left until summer!

  1. Omg YES! More music, and now that you've addicted me to French Films I'm going to listen to this on repeat while I study. That would be so pretty, I can't wait to unpack my keyboard, I've been in a super musical mood lately but school has taken up my time. Also, you might know this better than me, but is there somewhere online you can download sheet music from?

    1. Yeah, you should definitely start playing again! I always find that spring gets me in a creative mood :)
I usually buy most of my sheet music, since it's a pain to try and find individual sheets online. Most of the sheet music websites I've found are trading websites, so you have to upload some sheet music that you already have, and then find someone who's willing to trade their music for yours. I don't bother with them.
However, I have had some luck in the past with saving individual sheets from previews on Scribd. It's just a pdf-sharing website, but some people will upload sheet music. You can't download most of the files unless you're a premium member (which you have to pay for), but if you find a file that lets you preview all of the pages, then you can save each page individually as an image. Here's where I found Les deux pianos: http://www.scribd.com/doc/56580237/Yann-Tiersen-Les-Deux-Pianos

    1. psh, we could totally still start a duet! You would make a fabulous triangle player, and then we could travel around the world, playing our concerts at sold-out venues, making millions of dollars, and dating super-hot famous rich guys. I think this could work.
